Jeremy’s Blog #3: California Dreamin’
Since my last blog two weeks ago I have been waiting for something really fun/worthwhile to happen so that I could write about it. Well… In this case it has been business as usual for me the last two weeks. I have been running and working and enjoying the increasingly nice weather here in Boulder. I have been able to diversify my work schedule a bit too, to include more high school form clinics and events, which makes my work week that much more fun. Also, I spent quite a while in front of the TV watching other people run at the Track and Field World Championships in Daegu, South Korea.
As a big running nerd I will never miss any professional running event that the networks decide to televise. This is probably why I am psyched that NBC has decided to create Universal Sports. Universal Sports is a channel that 90% of America is most likely unaware of because it doesn’t broadcast NASCAR, Monday Night Football, or Jersey Shore. Watching Usain Bolt run and seeing some fantastic American performances was well worth the time on the couch and SHOULD be more than enough to convert some Jersey Shore fanatics over!
As for my running; I have been feeling really fit lately. I ran a new PR on Monday in the Boulder Half Marathon, which in and of itself is never a bad thing, but even better, it was during a tempo effort. I ran 68:44 and never really got too far out of my comfort zone. Good things hopefully are ahead… And ahead for me is the San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon. This will be my chance to hopefully pull out all the stops and try to get a good sea level, flat, half marathon PR and maybe an Olympic Trials qualifier in the marathon!
So for now it’s back to training with San Jose directly in the sights. This one should be a lot of fun and it looks like I will have some great runners to run with!
Finally, a shout out to teammates Kenyon Neuman and Kara Henry for braving a full marathon at altitude and coming up on the winning end! And to the Colorado State Cross Country team, great job at the Wyoming Invitational! Keep it up Rams!
